Murfitt's Home
We were approached by Judy Murfitt with a view to extending the lounge and kitchen, there was an existing extension, which had been badly carried out and was not very practical. There was a further small extension for the toilet, which would have been an external toilet in the original building.
I suggested, whilst we were extending part of the rear, it would be sensible to consolidate the whole of the rear, Judy agreed it seemed a good approach and would like to see our suggestions.
Our designs were well received, and we were commissioned to proceed with the work.
During the early stages of the work, Judy asked if it would be possible to increase the width of the kitchen. Whilst this was quite complicated and required us to insert supporting steelwork, this work was incorporated into the programme.
Judy decided that whilst work was quite extensive, if possible, she would like to remain in residence. Throughout the work, Judy was a delight, even during the period when the house was supported by twenty-eight acro-props.
The relationship between the client and the builder was extremely good and the work went extremely smoothly on completion of the work, Judy stated how sad she was to lose the builders as she had enjoyed their company.
We were then asked to undertake the design and production of the dining room table, chairs, and credenza, the client was extremely happy with the outcome.
Over the following years, we have continued to carry out further work for both the house and garden.
