1970s

Company creation

Having worked for three of the top architectural and design practices, including the illustrious Leslie Gooday & Associates, I decided to set up my own practice, Goodall Design in 1971.

The practice undertook several house conversions and successfully completed showrooms in Glasgow and Manchester for Gallaher.

Three further showrooms for Gallaher followed in Bristol, Birmingham, and Newcastle.

On completion of the Newcastle showroom, the directors were so pleased with the schemes that they presented us with an inscribed silver cigarette box.

We were approached by Barking Brassware to produce an exciting exhibit for them at the Building Show. After designing their exhibit, they were taken over by Grohe, the German bathroom tap and shower company. They were so excited by our design for Barking, we were commissioned to design their exhibit at the same show, both under the new name of ‘Barking Grohe’.
